Patient receiving sedation dentistry treatment for a comfortable and stress free dental procedure at LaSalle dentistry

Dental anxiety is the most common reason people avoid seeing a dentist. At Dentistry at LaSalle in Aldershot, Burlington, we believe that everyone deserves to enjoy excellent oral health without fear, pain, or discomfort. We offer several sedation options for patients who are anxious or need help relaxing.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation – You probably know this as laughing gas. It is a mild form of sedation with no after-effects. Oral sedation – For stronger sedation, an oral medication may be prescribed. The medication is taken in advance and takes effect gradually. It is a good alternative to IV sedation for individuals who have a phobia of needles. This is a good option for patients who suffer from pre-appointment anxiety. You will need a responsible adult to drive you, because it wears off gradually.

IV sedation – Known by many names, including “sleep dentistry” and “twilight dentistry,” this is a highly customizable form of sedation. Because the medication is delivered directly to your bloodstream, the dosage can be adjusted at any time during the visit. We offer this service in coordination with the affiliate office at Mount Royal Dental. IV sedation can deliver a stronger level of relaxation than oral sedation. You will not be able to drive, as the medication wears off gradually. Be sure to arrange assistance from a responsible adult.

Full sedation – This is the deepest level of sedation, which renders the individual unconscious. It is the same technique that is used for medical surgery, and it needs to be performed in an appropriate setting. If a patient requires this level of sedation, we rent an oratory to perform the dental procedure from Mount Royal Dental. It is absolutely essential that you have a responsible adult to assist you after treatment.
