Rethink Dentistry with Relaxing Dental Sedation Services
Most patients miss crucial dental appointments because of dental anxiety and phobia. However, when these fearful patients learn of sedation dentistry, the results are positive, productive dental appointments. Sedation dentistry uses anti-anxiety medication to relax your nerves as the dentist works on you.
Do you cringe at the thought of a dentist? Does a simple dental procedure like cleaning cause you sleepless nights? You have dental fear, and you can benefit from sedation dentistry offered by Dentistry at LaSalle in Burlington, Ontario. Pain-free dentistry calms your nerves and decreases sensitivity to pain.
Anxiety-Free Dentistry Options
There is no silver bullet when combating dental anxiety because no patient is like the other. The severity and cause of fear differ from one person to another, and what triggers fear in you may be a different case for your friend or loved one. Dr. Swati Khanna understands this too well, and that’s why we offer numerous sedation options, like:
- Nitrous oxide: Commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is safe for both children and adults because patients are awake during the procedure. We gently place a mask over your nose, and it takes a few moments for the treatment to kick in. Unlike other sedation options, laughing gas wears out quickly after removing the mask.
- Oral sedation: Here, the dentist prescribes an oral pill that you take an hour or so before the appointment. This sedation makes you drowsy, so you need to make transport arrangements in and out of the dental office. Medicinal sedation puts you in a deep relaxation state, and sometimes you may doze off, although a little nudge is enough to wake you up. After the treatment, you will remember little about the procedure.
- IV sedation: This strong sedation is ideal for severe dental phobia. The medication is administered through an IV line inserted in your vein. You remain unconscious throughout the process, but we closely monitor your vital signs and ensure you are breathing normally through an oxygen mask.
